+

2. Can Linea help teeth crowding?

Linea sure can! Dental crowding is a form of malocclusion (misalignment of teeth) where there is not enough space in your mouth for your permanent teeth to grow in a straight and uniform manner. This can then cause your teeth to rotate or be displaced in order to fit in.

+

3. Can Linea help teeth spacing?

Linea sure can! Gappy teeth (diastemas) or gaps between your teeth occur when there is too much space in the jaws for all of the teeth. These spaces can form anywhere in your mouth but naturally are most noticeable between the upper front teeth.

+

4. Can Linea help with an overbite/underbite or crossbite?

Yes, Linea is able to help in these situations however, severe cases are best handled with braces. Our customer service team will get in contact to discuss the specifics of your case.

+

5. Can Linea help with my midline?

Linea sure can! Midlines sometimes shift as teeth are taken out asymmetrically, if teeth are of uneven sizes or due to past traumatic events.

+

6. Is there a warranty on my Linea clear aligners and Linea treatment?

There certainly is! During your treatment you are eligible for additional aligners should they be required to achieve the projected result.

+

7. Can I get Linea clear aligner treatment on just my top or bottom teeth instead of both?

Linea clear aligner treatment options are available for just top or bottom teeth but consult your Linea partner dentist for your individual needs. Treating only the top or bottom teeth may affect the proper bite relationship between the top and bottom teeth so we usually recommend treating both arches of teeth.

Health

+

1. Will wearing the aligners affect my speech?

Like all oral appliances, the slight added thickness of the aligners may temporarily affect your speech. You may have a slight lisp for a few days. However, as your tongue gets used to having aligners in your mouth, any lisp or minor speech impediment caused by your aligners should resolve on its own.

+

2. I still have my wisdom teeth, can I still begin Linea clear aligner treatment?

Linea’s partner dentist will decide whether it is safe to begin Linea aligner treatment with your wisdom teeth or if they need to first be removed prior to starting treatment.

+

3. Are there restrictions on what I can eat?

In general, no. Unlike traditional braces, you can usually eat and drink whatever you desire because you will be removing your aligners before eating. Thus, there is no need to change your diet or restrict your consumption of any food or snacks, unless otherwise instructed by your dentist.

+

4. Will the treatment be painful?

Some people experience tooth soreness for a few days after starting each new aligner stage. This is normal. It is a sign that the aligners are working to move your teeth to their final destination. This soreness should gradually go away after a couple of days of wearing the new aligner. If it doesn’t, promptly contact our customer service team.

+

5. Is it ok to drink while I wear my aligners?

It is fine to drink plain, cold water while wearing aligners. Tea, coffee and coloured drinks may cause staining of the aligners over time, but as long as you are diligent with cleaning your teeth and aligners, this should not be much of an issue. However, when it comes to sugary and/or acidic drinks, we do recommend that you remove your aligners when drinking and to have a good rinse with water before putting the aligners back on. This is to avoid formation of cavities should sugars become trapped between the aligner and your teeth for long periods of time. Drinks that are very hot can also warp the aligners, affecting their fit and efficacy.

+

6. Will smoking tobacco or chewing tobacco stain the aligners?

We discourage tobacco use while wearing aligners because of the possibility of aligner discolouration and the potential warping of the aligners due to heat.

+

7. Since having my braces removed, my teeth have moved and relapsed. Can Linea clear aligners help me?

Yes, Linea clear aligners can treat nearly all common teeth-straightening issues. Many people who formerly had braces but have long stopped wearing their retainers, end up with orthodontic relapse. Simply put, their teeth have moved out of alignment because the human body is always changing and growing. Most people don’t want to go through having braces again and choose clear aligner treatment as the best solution to improve their smile discreetly.

+

8. I have veneers or crowns. Will Linea clear aligners still work?

As long as your veneers or crowns are in good condition and have no underlying issues like decay, Linea clear aligners will work just as well on them as on natural teeth. Where there are defects or decay, the teeth underneath may not move as accurately, and in some cases, the crowns or veneers may even fall out when pressure is applied. This is why it is so important to have a dentist examine your teeth prior to undergoing any orthodontic treatment, including Linea clear aligners. They will be able to determine the health of the teeth with crowns/veneers on them. If there are problems, your dentist will offer solutions to fix them prior to starting your Linea clear aligner treatment.

+

9. I have bridgework on several teeth. Will Linea clear aligners still work?

Fixed dental bridges connect two or more teeth together, making it impossible to move those teeth individually. As long as the teeth that require movement do not involve those teeth, Linea clear aligners will still be able to help you achieve your desired smile. This will form part of the assessment during your initial consult appointment with our Linea partner dentist.

+

10. I have dental implants on one or multiple teeth. Will Linea clear aligners still work?

Dental implants are fused with the jaw bone and cannot be moved by braces or clear aligners. If you have a dental implant in a critical area which requires it or the teeth either side to move, this will negatively impact the results of clear aligner treatment.

+

11. Can I expect any tooth pain during my Linea clear aligner treatment?

Some people experience tooth soreness for a few days after starting each new aligner stage. This is normal. It is a sign that the aligners are working to move your teeth to their final destination. This soreness should gradually go away after a couple of days of wearing the new aligner. If it doesn’t, promptly contact our customer service team.

+

12. Do Linea clear aligners contain Bisphenol A (BPA)?

All Linea aligner and retainer materials are made of medical-grade thermoplastic polymers. These materials were selected for use in clear aligners and retainers based on their properties and safety. They have a long history of FDA/ TGA approval for long term use inside the human body. Research on biocompatibility of these materials show they are biocompatible and pass all applicable regulatory requirements and thresholds for human wear in the mouth.

Based on current knowledge and testing of the raw materials and processes used in the manufacture of aligners and retainers, we are not aware of any latex, parabens, phthalates, glutaraldehyde, epoxy or Bisphenol A (BPA) present in our aligners or retainers. Just to be safe we have ensured they are gluten free and vegan friendly too. Of course, as with any medical device, you should consult with your health professional if you have a specific medical allergy or sensitivity.

The Linea Process

+

1. What is the treatment process?

After filling out our Smile Survey, we will pair you with an approved Linea partner dentist to do a consultation. Your dentist will evaluate your teeth and oral health to make sure that your teeth and gums are healthy before you can undergo orthodontic treatment. Your smile and alignment issues will be diagnosed and we will tailor a bespoke digital treatment plan just for you. A step-by-step transformation of your smile will then be emailed to you for your approval.

Once you and your dentist approve of the treatment plan, your bespoke aligners will be created by Linea. You will need to wear each set of aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day, changing to a new set of aligners every 14 days, as directed. Each set of aligners will gently and steadily move your teeth into place, according to your treatment plan, until you reach your beautiful new smile.

+

2. How do I get started with Linea clear aligner treatment?

Our customer service team can help you make an appointment with a Linea partner dentist near you and answer any questions you may have. During your appointment, our partner dentist will perform a thorough assessment to make sure that your teeth and overall oral health are in perfect shape to start on your smile journey.

+

3. What should I bring to my consultation with my Linea partner dentist?

Bring your questions and an idea of how you want your final smile to look. You should also bring your private health insurance card and any information you might have about your dental history and past dental x-rays.

+

4. What should I expect during my consultation?

During your consultation, your dentist will discuss your smile goals with you and most importantly examine your teeth to determine your specific needs. They will then run tests and take x-rays to ensure your mouth is healthy enough to begin treatment. Your dentist will then recommend scheduling a cleaning or any dental treatments required before you begin your smile journey to make sure your teeth and gums are in top health and to avoid unnecessary harm. If your teeth are ready to start Linea aligner treatment, your dentist will take photos and a 3D digital scan of your teeth and bite. This will be sent to Linea for planning and processing.

+

5. Will I be able to see how my teeth will look post treatment?

Yes. Once your Linea partner dentist has taken a 3D intraoral scan we will send you a 3D visualization of your teeth in their current position and how they will look post Linea treatment

+

6. How long will treatment take?

The length of treatment depends on a few factors like how tricky your case is and how often you wear your aligners. On average, Linea aligner treatments take between 6 to 12 months, though you can start seeing results earlier.

+

7. How often will I change my aligners?

Your dentist will tell you how often you should change to new aligners as this will be determined by your age, dental and gum health as well as your individual plan. Many dentists recommend changing clear aligners every 14 days.

+

8. When should I change my aligners?

Linea recommends you change your aligners in the evening before going to sleep.

+

9. How many hours per day should I wear my aligners?

For the best results, wear your Linea clear aligners 20 to 22 hours a day, taking them out only for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing.

+

10. Can I throw previous aligners away?

Please Please Please do not! Please keep all your aligners until you have completed treatment. If your current aligner is broken, lost or if you feel it does not feel right, we may ask you to wear your previous aligner. We suggest keeping your previous aligners in their bags in your Linea box.

+

11. When will visible changes be evident?

Everyone is different and the speed at which your teeth move will depend on the density of your jaw bone and how often you wear your aligners. We also move different sections of your teeth at each stage, so some teeth may not move until much later. However, most people will see noticeable changes in their smile after about 3 months of continuous wear.

+

12. What do I need to know about retainers?

Once you have completed your treatment, it is critical that you wear your retainers to maintain your new smile. The roots of our teeth have ligaments around them (like little elastic bands) that allow our teeth to move (ever so slightly!) as we bite and chew throughout the day. Slight movement of our teeth throughout the day is normal, and retainers help reset our teeth into that nice straight position each night so you can wake up fresh with perfectly straight teeth again!

+

13. Can I go to any dentist or orthodontist for Linea clear aligner treatment?

Many orthodontists and dentists are trained to provide orthodontic aligner treatments but not all use our Linea aligner system.

Our customer service team can help you find a Linea partner dentist near you.

+

14. What happens before I reach the end of my aligner treatment?

One of Linea’s customer service team members will contact you prior to you reaching your final aligner and will organize a final visit to Linea’s partner dentist. We will ship your retainers to you once your Linea partner dentist has approved completion of your case. For further information on your retainer please click this link.

+

15. What are attachments?

Your Linea clear aligner treatment may require small tooth-coloured buttons that are attached to your teeth. These act as handles, allowing the aligners to better “grip” the tooth for more accurate movement. This is what make complex tooth movements possible. Linea clear aligners fit smoothly and tightly around them so you will barely notice them.

Not everyone using Linea clear aligners will need attachments, should you require them, your dentist will attach them to your teeth at the start of your treatment and remove them when they are no longer needed.

+

16. What is IPR?

IPR or interproximal reduction is the technical term for trimming the sides of your teeth. This is done in cases with teeth crowding to create space that is required to move your teeth and straighten them. The procedure is relatively pain-free with a bit of water spraying and is similar to a clean.

+

17. Is IPR necessary? Can I request no IPR?

Some cases with very mild/minimal crowding may not require IPR, and in those cases, IPR will not be part of the process. However, in cases with more crowding, IPR is necessary to create a more aesthetic outcome. For these cases, no IPR will result in very proclined (bucky) teeth as well as possible gum recession and root exposure.

+

18. What happens if I break, crack or lose my aligners?

We understand accidents can happen. If you break, crack or lose your aligner, please get in contact with Linea’s customer service as soon as possible. Depending on where you are in your treatment process, we will work out the most suitable option for you to continue seamlessly and confidently on your smile journey.

+

19. How do I clean my aligners?

The simplest way to wash your aligners and the most convenient when you are out and about: simply run your aligners under warm water (Not hot!) and lightly brush with a soft toothbrush. P.s we recommend that you buy a small travel toothbrush to keep in your bag.

For a thorough clean Linea recommends using cleaning tablets. Cleaning tablets are specially designed to clean dentures, kill 99.9% of bacteria, remove plaque and stains and are by far the most thorough way to clean your aligners. Pop one tablet into a cup of warm water and let it dissolve for 2-3 minutes. Drop your aligners into the solution for a full 3 minutes. Remove your aligners from the solution, rinse with water and then reunite them fully cleaned with your teeth.

Keeping your aligners clean will help your treatment, keep your pearly whites shining and make sure you don’t have any embarrassing bad breath!

+

20. What happens if my teeth don’t track 100% according to the plan?

As with all clear aligner treatments, from time to time we will have a tooth that doesn’t track 100% according to the treatment plan. This can be due to a variety of reasons (bone density, ligament strength, root length) with the most common being not wearing your aligners for the prescribed 22 hours a day, every single day; swapping aligners early or not using your chewies to seat the aligners properly.

If this happens we just need to send you back to the partner dentist for a rescan and refinement planning. After the rescan, we will then design your refinement plan, print your refinement aligners and ship them directly to you. If additional attachments are necessary then we will send you back to the partner dentist for a refinement fitting appointment.
